The Tatham Art Gallery, situated in the heart of Pietermaritzburg, is housed in a national monument. This art museum is recognized worldwide for its international collection of art works.
When installing the Tatham Art Gallery alarm system, cognizance had to be taken of both the national monument status and the fact that the security risk was substantial. As little visible, or surface wiring as possible was a requirement for the entire building.
The system was installed in 2002, and despite the complex challenges presented by the building and the art museum environment, it continues to provide effective security coverage to this day.
Expansion capabilities were taken into account at the time of installation and the system has recently been expanded to accommodate a flood warning system and protection for the generator, at very little cost.
Red Alert has never failed to provide the Tatham Art Gallery with professional and considered service. Turnaround time is swift, for both Service requests and Armed Response. The locally based control room, rather than a centrally based call-centre is operated by efficient and knowledgeable staff, who know their clients.
Regular contact with administrative and control room staff has resulted in many years of personal and efficient service. Both the Service and Armed Response departments have willingly assisted the Tatham Art Gallery in emergency and after-hours call-outs on a number of occasions over the years.
Rob Anderson, the Regional Manager, and Azad Mahomed were responsible for the original design of the security system at the Tatham Art Gallery and continue to be personally involved with resolving additional and complex security issues.
The Tatham Art Gallery relies on efficient and swift service for the protection of a major art collection, and is very glad to be associated with Red Alert who provides this service.
