    Ambulance crew robbed in Nyanga

    September 9, 2019

Yesterday morning, an ambulance crew was robbed in Lusaka, Nyanga.

Two members of the Metro Ambulance Services, a man and a woman, were in Nyanga trying to verify the address they had been called to attend to when two armed men approached their vehicle. The criminals robbed them at gunpoint of their valuables and then fled with two cellphones and a wallet.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

“The circumstances around this incident are being investigated with no arrests being made so far,” the police’s Siyabulela Malo advised. “Police urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident to contact the Nyanga SAPS at 021 380 3304.”

A case of armed robbery has been opened.

A spokesperson for the Western Cape Department of Health, Byron La Hoe, announced special measures had been taken to avoid such incidents.

“As a result of this attack, New Cross Roads and Phillipi have been declared Red Zones for the next 24 hours. This could result in delays as EMS personnel cannot enter these areas without a police escort,” he explained.
