    Russian tourists robbed in Mthatha

    February 13, 2020

A group of adventure sport tourists from Russia were victims of theft  at BT Ngebs City Mall in Mthatha on Wednesday when their kayaks and trailer were stolen in broad daylight.

A friend of the travelling adventurers, Shane Raw, siad the group had just come off a flooding Eastern Cape river where one of them had been trapped at the base of a 12m waterfall. They had driven to Mthatha, parked their vehicle and trailer and entered the mall after 3pm. When they returned, the trailer and their kayaks was gone. The estimated value of the kayaks is R 100 000.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci said a  case of  theft was being  investigated but no  arrests have yet been made.
